November 5th is Romani Language
November 5th is Romani Language Day. The initiative to create World Romani Language Day began with the Romani Parliament in Croatia in 2009. The aim was to give visibility to the Romani language and to promote the linguistic and cultural diversity of Roma people worldwide. The date was chosen to honor the efforts of organizations and activists working to preserve and promote the Romani language, which is spoken in many parts of the world, especially in Europe. The Romani language has different dialects and variations, due to the dispersion of the Roma people across many countries. It is estimated that there are around 10 to 12 million Roma people in the world, and the Romani language represents an important cultural link between them.
