October 25th is Butterfly Skin
October 25th is Butterfly Skin Day. This day was created to raise awareness of Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), a rare genetic condition that causes extreme fragility of the skin, making it susceptible to blistering and sores with the slightest friction or trauma. The condition is often referred to as "butterfly skin" due to its fragility, similar to a butterfly's wings. Epidermolysis Bullosa is estimated to affect around 1 in 50,000 births, but the condition may be underdiagnosed. International Butterfly Skin Day is crucial to raising awareness of the condition, promoting empathy, and encouraging solidarity with those living with the condition.
