October 21, Reptile
October 21, Reptile Day, is a date intended to raise awareness about the importance of conserving these animals and the challenges they face. Reptiles, which emerged during the Carboniferous and include around 6,000 species, such as turtles, snakes, lizards and crocodilians, play essential ecological roles, such as controlling pests and maintaining balance in ecosystems. Reptiles are crucial to biodiversity and the health of ecosystems. Despite their importance, many of them are poorly understood and threatened, which makes the celebration of World Reptile Day an opportunity to promote actions of protection and respect for these animals and their habitats, with various activities, such as lectures and exhibitions, held globally.
