October 20th is Cerebral Palsy Day in Portugal
October 20th is Cerebral Palsy Day in Portugal . It was established to raise awareness about this neurological condition, which affects movement and motor coordination due to brain damage during development, usually before birth. The date was celebrated for the first time in Portugal in 2013 and made official by decree-law in 2014. Its objective is to demystify prejudices about cerebral palsy (CP) and raise awareness in the community about the challenges faced by people with CP and their families. Cerebral palsy is the most common motor condition in children, affecting approximately 2 in every 1,000 births.
