October 17th is Brazilian Aeronautics Industry
October 17th is Brazilian Aeronautics Industry Day, honoring the inaugural flight of the Muniz M-7 airplane in 1935, the first mass-produced in Brazil. Designed by Antônio Guedes Muniz, the single-engine aircraft was used for training and acrobatics. This milestone represents the beginning of national aircraft production. The date also highlights advances in the sector, such as the creation of the Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (ITA) in 1950 and the founding of Embraer in 1969. Currently, Brazil is a reference in the aeronautics industry, with companies such as Aeromot, Avibras, and Helibras.
