October 5
October 5 is World Teachers' Day. The date was established in 1994 by UNESCO, in partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO), to honor teachers and highlight the importance of education for the development of societies. This date marks the signing of the UNESCO and ILO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers in 1966, a document that defines the rights, responsibilities and working conditions of these professionals. The objective of World Teachers' Day is to value the essential role of educators, promote quality education and encourage better working conditions for teachers around the world.
