Saint Therese of the Child Jesus , known as the Saint of the Roses
Saint Therese of the Child Jesus , known as the Saint of the Roses , is celebrated on October 1st , a date on which the faithful pay homage to her spirituality and teachings on the "little way" of love and trust in God. Since she was young, she desired a religious life, but only entered the convent at the age of 17, after the death of her father. She died at the age of 24, a victim of tuberculosis, and during her last days, she promised that she would "make a shower of roses fall" after her death, symbolizing her graces. Canonized in 1925, she is the patron saint of the missions and widely venerated for her intercession.
