The 4th century B.C. saw the Babylonian star catalog enter Greek astronomy thanks to Eudoxus of Cnidus. Babylonia or Chaldea was so linked to astrology that "Chaldean wisdom" became synonymous with divination through the planets and stars for the Greeks and Romans. Hellenistic astrology derives in part from Babylonian and Egyptian astrology. Horoscopic astrology began to appear in Ptolemaic Egypt (305 BC - 30 BC).
