As a sponsor of the Copa União, in 1987, Coca-Cola extended its support to the teams in the competition, including Grêmio, and stamped its brand on most of the shirts of the teams that competed in the tournament. However, the soft drink manufacturer had to give up the traditional red logo, as this is the color of the biggest rival of the gaucho tricolor. The shirts were stamped with the brand in white.
