History of Rodrigo Caldeira - Viseu, Portugal
Avatar is a 2009 science fiction film. It was written and directed by James Cameron, and stars Sam Worthington (Jake Sully), Zoë Saldaña (Neytiri), Michelle Rodriguez (Trudy Chacon), Sigourney Weaver (Dr. Grace Augustine) and Stephen Lang (Colonel Miles Quaritch). The story takes place in the year 2154, on Pandora, where human colonists and the Navi, the humanoid natives, are at war over the planet's resources and the continued existence of the native species. To prepare the actors, James Cameron took the entire crew to Hawaii and they spent their days living as a tribe learning their ways. The Navi language was created with over 1000 words by linguist Paul Frommer. Of the scenes recorded in the film, 40% were recorded with real actors and the rest with computer graphics effects. Sigourney Weaver's character appears smoking in the film, but in fact the actress does not smoke, that's when post-production needed to create a digital cigarette in her hands.
