The first publication of "Beauty and the Beast" was made in the 18th century by Madame Suzanne de Villeneuve. Later, Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont also revived the French folk tale. Walt Disney's Disney studios tried to adapt the story twice in the 1930s and 1950s, but didn't go ahead with the projects until the version released in 1991.
