International Jazz
International Jazz Day is a global celebration recognized by UNESCO and the United Nations since 2011, highlighting the diplomatic role of jazz in uniting people around the world. Celebrated annually on April 30 , the idea came from jazz pianist Herbie Hancock, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador. The celebrations include events such as the All-Star Global Concert, which brings together renowned jazz musicians at the United Nations headquarters in New York. The history of International Jazz Day dates back to 2011, when UNESCO proclaimed the date as a way to promote peace and intercultural dialogue through music. Since then, the celebration has grown and gained global prominence.
