Mother Teresa of Calcutta Day is celebrated on September 5th . This day is dedicated to honoring the life and legacy of Mother Teresa, an Albanian Catholic nun known for her humanitarian work among the poor and needy in Calcutta, India. Mother Teresa founded the religious order Missionaries of Charity, which dedicated itself to caring for the sick, orphans, elderly and dying. She was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 for her efforts on behalf of the underprivileged. Mother Teresa of Calcutta Day is an opportunity to recognize her dedication to charity and inspire others to follow her example of compassion and selfless service to the most vulnerable.
