Saint Herminia 's Day, celebrated on August 25
Saint Herminia 's Day, celebrated on August 25 , marks the life of a simple and illiterate peasant woman from the 14th century, who settled in Reims, France, with her elderly husband. After his death, Hermínia began to have nocturnal visions of angels and demons, triggering controversy amidst the context of schism in the Catholic Church, witchcraft, plague and questions about spiritual discernment and mental illnesses. She was visited by divine figures, but also attacked by demons and animals, facing humiliating exposures. His dreams were recorded by an Augustinian friar. For 10 months, Hermínia endured these visions until her death in 1396. Described as poor materially but rich in patience and humility, her visions were evaluated by the Catholic Church, which allowed her ceremony. His life generated debates about his holiness and his celebration is an opportunity to reflect on his history and spiritual legacy.
