Oppenheimer was filmed in IMAX format, including scenes in black and white
Oppenheimer was filmed in IMAX format, including scenes in black and white, something unprecedented for this type of film. Since they were not available, the production had to create the IMAX reels in black and white. During filming, they used reels that weigh 272 kg and measure 17 km in total, suitable for the length of the film. The atomic bomb explosion scene was made without the use of computer graphics, reflecting Nolan's preference for real resources in his productions. Although he did not use an actual nuclear bomb, he employed special effects techniques to create an authentic visual experience.
