The Day of the Transfiguration of the Lord
The Day of the Transfiguration of the Lord is celebrated on August 6 by the Catholic Church and some Orthodox Christian denominations. It is a Christian festival that celebrates the event described in the Gospels in which Jesus Christ was transfigured on a mountain before his disciples Peter, James and John. This event is mentioned in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke. During the Transfiguration, Jesus' appearance changed, his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white like light. Moses and Elijah also appeared together with Jesus, symbolizing the connection between the Law (represented by Moses) and the Prophets (represented by Elijah) with Jesus, the Messiah.
