The Larco Museum, in Lima
The Larco Museum, in Lima, was founded in 1926 and houses more than 45 thousand pieces that tell the pre-Columbian Peruvian history over 5 thousand years. The chronological arrangement facilitates the understanding of pre-Inca and Inca cultures, highlighting beliefs and rituals. Located in an 18th-century mansion atop a 7th-century pyramid, the museum offers a unique experience. The permanent gallery is divided into thematic areas including North Coast, Central Coast, South Coast and Andes. Highlights include sacred animals, such as the condor, puma and snake. Specific rooms address textiles, jewelry, sacrifices and eroticism, providing insights into the lives of these societies.
