The Pajé
The Pajé question is an essential representation of Amazonian indigenous culture. The Pajé is the guardian of ancestral knowledge and rituals, being responsible for bringing elements of spirituality and traditional wisdom to the presentations of the Caprichoso and Garantido oxen. During the performances, the Pajé incorporates the figure of the shaman, using dances, gestures and typical props to evoke the connection with the spirits of the forest and transmit symbolic messages to the audience. Their presence adds a mystical and ritualistic dimension to the performances, enriching the cultural experience of the festival. The judges evaluate the Pajé's performance based on criteria such as authenticity, expressiveness, mastery of movements and ability to transmit the spiritual essence of indigenous culture. The Pajé represents not only a folkloric character, but also a living link with the traditions and beliefs of the original people of the Amazon.
