Chess is played by two players on an 8x8 checkered board
History of André Padilha - Distrito Federal, Brasil
Chess is played by two players on an 8x8 checkered board. Each player starts the game with 16 pieces. The set includes a king, queen, two rooks, two bishops, two knights and eight pawns. Each piece has specific moves. Each player makes one move at a time, alternating with each other. Pieces can move to an empty square or capture an opposing piece occupying a square occupied by it. Each piece has its own movement pattern, and players must strategically consider how best to position their pieces and control the board. When a player's king is under immediate attack by one or more opposing pieces, the king is said to be in check. The player must respond to check by moving the king to a safe square, blocking the attack, or capturing the piece threatening the king. Checkmate occurs when the king is in check and there is no legal move the player can make to avoid it. the sheikh... Did you know?
