Pablo Escobar, leader of the Medellín drug cartel, was one of the richest criminals in history, with an estimated net worth of between US$25 and 30 billion. He began his criminal career in the 70s with kidnappings and later dedicated himself to smuggling cocaine into the USA. The cartel, operating globally, made more than $420 million a week and was responsible for more than 4,000 deaths. The Casa Museo Pablo Escobar chronicles his life and is located in Medellín, displaying artifacts and vehicles associated with Escobar. His tomb is in the Jardins Montescaro Cemetery, in Itagui.
