A star does not appear in isolation, but together with many others, which, over time, tend to disperse. In this way, stars can manifest individually or in clusters. Clusters of stars with a common origin, which revolve around a central point, are called stellar clusters, and can be classified into two categories: globular (or compact) clusters, which gather older stars and range from a few thousand to a million of stars; and open clusters, which are smaller and encompass a few tens to thousands of stars.
