Ellipses (...) are used to indicate doubt or hesitation ("I... don't know if I should say..."); interruption in an incomplete sentence (Angela said she didn't want to, but...); to prolong an idea (I... I don't know... I don't know what we can do now...); to show deletion; and in incomplete excerpts of texts or speeches. If the sentence is not complete, the ellipsis can be used in parentheses or square brackets. When the next idea is new, the ellipsis can be followed by capital letters.
