September 25 is the Radio Day
September 25 is the Radio Day, the date that honors Edgar Roquette-Pinto, considered the country of radio broadcasting in Brazil. He founded Rádio Sociedade do Rio de Janeiro, currently known as Rádio MEC. The radio is recognized as an important means of cultural preservation, as evidenced by the Sergipe legislation, which allocates 5% of programming for local music. The first radio broadcast in Brazil occurred on September 7, 1922, in Corcovado, Rio de Janeiro. Since then, the radio has established itself as a powerful means of communication, available on various platforms. It also pays tribute to Roquette-Pinto, and Radio Day also celebrates the invention of radio by Italian scientist Guglielmo Marconi. In 1923, Roquette-Pinto founded the first national radio station, while his father and Gaucho scientist Roberto Landell de Moura also made important contributions to the development of radio technology.
