Saint Rita of Cassia's Day, on May 22
Saint Rita of Cassia's Day, on May 22 , is a celebration of the patron saint of impossible causes, widows and roses. Born in 1381 in Roccaporena, Italy, Saint Rita demonstrated her devotion to Christ from a young age. After facing challenges in entering the convent due to her condition as a mother and widow, she lived for around 40 years as a nun, becoming known for the miracles attributed to her fervent prayers. Her incorrupt body and miracles, such as the "miracle of the rose", contributed to her canonization in 1900. Saint Rita's Day is celebrated throughout the world, especially in Portugal, where she is venerated in Ermesinde with processions and popular fairs.
