Adolescent Day is celebrated annually in Brazil
Adolescent Day is celebrated annually in Brazil on September 21 , established in 1996 by a bill by deputy Horácio de Matos Neto. This date is marked by various promotional, recreational and health activities across the country. Although the Child and Adolescent Statute (ECA) defines adolescence as 12 to 18 years old, the World Health Organization (WHO) extends it from 10 to 19 years old, highlighting this period as a phase of physical, mental and social changes. . The objective of Adolescent Day is to promote dialogue between young people and adults about issues relevant to this stage of life, such as sexuality, professional choices and personal identity. Although officially celebrated on September 21st, in some regions of Brazil, as an unofficial celebration, the date is also recognized on October 20th.
