Family Guy (in Brazil, Uma Família da Pesada) is an American animated sitcom created by Seth MacFarlane in 1999. The story of the series revolves around the Griffins, a dysfunctional family consisting of parents Peter and Lois; children Meg, Chris and Stewie; and his pet, the anthropomorphic dog Brian. In 2009, it was nominated for an Emmy for best comedy series, the first time an animated series has been nominated for that category since The Flintstones in 1961, but it also received generally unfavorable reviews due to its similarity to The Simpsons. All characters, including Brian the dog, have 4 toes and are set in the fictional town of Quahog, Rhode Island.
