The Atacama Desert in northern Chile is the highest and drie
History of Taina Lima - Bahia, Brasil
The Atacama Desert in northern Chile is the highest and driest desert in the world, stretching for around 1,000 km. Due to its altitude, it rarely rains in the region. Composed of rocky terrain, salt lakes and sand, the desert covers approximately 105 thousand square kilometers. Temperatures range from 0°C at night to 40°C during the day. São Pedro de Atacama, at 2,400 meters above sea level, is an isolated town considered an oasis and a meeting point for many travelers. The region preserves a valuable archaeological legacy and features pre-Columbian rock art, as well as notable ruins, such as the Circular Villas of Tulor and the pukaras in Quitor and Lasana.
