The Korat Cat is a breed of domestic cat originating from Thailand, mentioned in ancient Thai manuscripts such as the "Tamra Maew" (Book of Cat Poems), the Korat is one of the oldest cat breeds. It is traditionally associated with good luck, prosperity and fertility. It was introduced to the West in the late 1950s and early 1960s, mainly in the United States and Europe. Known for his distinctive appearance and captivating personality. It has a short, smooth and shiny coat, with a characteristic bluish-silver color. Each strand of hair tends to be lighter at the root and darker at the tip, creating a sparkling effect. They have large, rounded, expressive eyes that range from bright green to amber. Generally a healthy breed, but some may be prone to genetic diseases such as gangliosidosis (an inherited neurological disorder).
