The Alaskan Malamute is a breed of dog originating in Alaska, bred for heavy work such as pulling sleds. Although similar to the Siberian Husky, it is larger and more robust. They are docile, independent and intelligent animals that need mental stimulation to avoid boredom. They are good companions for children and other animals, but they can be stubborn and need a firm owner. Grooming includes regular brushing of their long coat and activities to keep their mind active.
