April 25 is Customs Broker's Day
April 25 is Customs Broker's Day, a date that honors the professionals responsible for intermediating import and export operations, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and facilitating international trade. The celebration was established in 2006 by the National Federation of Customs Brokers (Feaduaneiros).
The profession has roots in Brazil since 1850, when the First Commercial Code mentioned clerks as responsible for the clearance of goods. In 1932, Decree No. 22,104 regulated the activity, requiring presidential appointment to perform the function.
Currently, customs brokers play a crucial role in the economy, representing importers and exporters before the Federal Revenue Service and other agencies, preparing import and export declarations, and monitoring the clearance of goods. With technological evolution, these professionals have adapted, using digital systems to optimize processes and ensure greater efficiency in operations.
