Easter: Prophecy Fulfilled: Resurrection of Jesus
The Promised Messiah in the Old Testament
Since ancient times, the Hebrew prophets announced the coming of a Messiah — a messenger of God destined to bring salvation to His people.
One of the most striking prophecies is found in Isaiah 53, where the so-called “suffering servant” is described:
He would be rejected by men
He would suffer unjustly
He would bear the transgressions of others
Through his suffering, he would bring healing and peace
Despite his apparent defeat, he would be exalted by God
The Fulfillment in Jesus Christ
Centuries later, Christians identify in the life of Jesus Christ the direct fulfillment of these prophecies.
According to Christian faith:
Jesus was unjustly crucified
He took on suffering on behalf of humanity
He rose again on the third day
He was glorified by God
The resurrection of Jesus is seen as confirmation that He is the promised Messiah.
Other Fulfilled Messianic Prophecies
In addition to Isaiah 53, Christians believe that Jesus fulfilled many other prophecies in the Old Testament, including:
Passages in the Psalms
Prophecies in the book of Daniel
These texts reinforce the idea of a Messiah who would suffer but ultimately be victorious.
The Meaning of Easter for Christians
Christian Easter celebrates more than just a historical event.
It represents:
The fulfillment of God's promises
The realization of prophetic hope
Victory over death
For believers, the central message is clear:
the Messiah came, suffered, died, and rose again to offer eternal salvation to all who believe.
