April 12th is Street Children
April 12th is Street Children 's Day, with the aim of raising awareness in society about the reality of children and adolescents living on the streets. The date was created to give visibility to the challenges faced by these children, who are exposed to situations of social vulnerability, exploitation and abuse.
In many parts of the world, these children face a lack of access to education, health and basic rights, in addition to being vulnerable to diseases and violence. The day serves as a call for more effective public policies that guarantee protection, social assistance and the right to a full childhood.
Non-governmental organizations, human rights entities and charities often carry out awareness-raising activities, fundraising campaigns and educational events to draw the attention of the population and the government to the needs of these children.
The International Day of Street Children reinforces the commitment to fight for the dignity and rights of these children, promoting a more just and equal future.
