April 12th is Humorist 's Day, in honor of Brazilian comedian Chico Anysio, one of the greatest icons of humor in the country. The date was chosen to mark the birthday of Chico, who was born in 1931, in Maranguape, Ceará.
Chico Anysio began his artistic career as a radio announcer, but soon stood out as an actor and writer on comedy shows. With the arrival of TV in the 1950s, he became one of the most popular comedians in Brazil, creating more than 200 comic characters throughout his 65-year career.
The date aims to honor comedians, who with their talent and creativity, bring laughter into people's lives, in addition to celebrating the health benefits of laughter. Humor, often seen as "the best medicine", plays an essential role in providing well-being and relief for the mind.
The date has been officially celebrated in Ceará since 2004 and nationally since 2015.
