April 7th, National Day to Combat Bullying and Violence in Schools
April 7th, National Day to Combat Bullying and Violence in Schools , aims to raise awareness in society about the impacts of bullying and violence in the school environment. The date was established to reinforce the importance of building a safe, respectful and welcoming educational environment for all students, without discrimination or physical and emotional aggression.
Bullying, characterized by intimidating attitudes, verbal, physical or psychological aggression, affects thousands of children and adolescents, harming their emotional and psychological development. Violence in schools, in turn, involves not only bullying, but also episodes of more serious aggression, which can have devastating consequences for the victims.
In response to these problems, the National Day to Combat Bullying and Violence in Schools seeks to raise awareness among parents, educators, students and administrators about the importance of creating a culture of peace in schools. The date also emphasizes the need for effective public policies to prevent and combat these practices, in addition to supporting victims and promoting inclusion, respect and empathy in the school environment. The mobilization seeks to ensure that all children and young people have the right to study in a safe place free from violence.
