April 3rd is Actuary
April 3rd is Actuary Day, in honor of the enactment of Federal Decree No. 66,408, in 1970, which established the rules and regulations for the profession in Brazil. The decree defined the competencies of actuaries and made their consultancy mandatory in essential areas, such as insurance, pensions and health.
An actuary is a specialist with a degree in Actuarial Science, with a solid background in Mathematics, Statistics and Finance. Their work consists of assessing risks and proposing solutions that ensure the financial health of organizations. These professionals can work in insurance companies, pension funds, health plans, financial institutions and also pursue teaching.
The date is an opportunity to highlight the relevance of actuaries in risk management, financial planning and pensions, areas in which these professionals play a fundamental role in the economic stability of companies and the financial protection of individuals.
Actuary Day is also a time to reflect on the evolution of the profession and the importance of continuous training, ensuring that these specialists can respond to the new demands of the market.
