March 25 is the feast day of Saint Dismas
March 25 is the feast day of Saint Dismas, honoring the saint known as "the Good Thief". According to Christian tradition, Dismas was one of the thieves crucified alongside Jesus Christ and, upon showing repentance and recognizing Jesus as the Savior, received the promise that he would be in Paradise that same day.
The story of Saint Dismas is told in the Gospel of Luke (23:39-43), where he rebukes the other thief, known as Gestas, and asks Jesus to remember him in his Kingdom. This act of faith and humility led the Catholic Church to recognize him as a saint, and he is considered a symbol of redemption and divine mercy.
On March 25, the faithful hold prayers and celebrations in his honor, reflecting on forgiveness and the possibility of change until the last moment of life. Saint Dismas is also considered the patron saint of repentant prisoners and the dying, and is remembered in masses and novenas dedicated to his intercession.
