March 20, Oral Health Day
March 20, Oral Health Day, aims to raise awareness among the population about the importance of oral health care and the prevention of oral diseases. Created by the International Dental Federation (FDI), this date seeks to raise awareness about the need for daily oral hygiene practices, such as brushing, flossing and regular visits to the dentist, to avoid problems such as cavities, gingivitis, periodontitis and even more serious diseases, such as oral cancer.
During this day, several campaigns and educational activities are carried out around the world, involving health professionals, schools, communities and governments. World Oral Health Day also emphasizes the positive impact that good oral health has on people's general well-being, since oral diseases can directly affect the health of the body, as in the case of infections that can spread to other parts of the body.
The date also addresses the issue of access to dental care, especially in areas where the lack of resources makes adequate treatment difficult. Furthermore, it reinforces the importance of healthy habits from childhood, encouraging parents to teach their children about the care needed to maintain healthy teeth throughout life.
