March 10, the day of Harriet Tubman
March 10, the day of Harriet Tubman and tribute to one of the greatest leaders in the fight against slavery in the United States. Born enslaved around 1822, Harriet Tubman managed to escape to freedom and dedicated her life to rescuing other enslaved people through the Underground Railroad, a secret network of routes and shelters. It is estimated that she has helped free more than 70 people, becoming a symbol of resistance and courage.
In addition to her role in the abolition of slavery, Tubman served as a spy, nurse, and leader of military operations during the American Civil War. After the conflict, I continued defending the rights of women and two black people, leaving a legacy of mourning and justice.
Harriet Tubman Day was made official to reconfirm her importance in the history of the United States. His memory is still alive, being remembered in books, films and at the request of stamping his image on the US$20 card, reinforcing his role in the fight for freedom and equality.
