November 24th is the day of scientific culture in Portugal. This date was established in 1996 to honor the birth of Rómulo de Carvalho, one of the most important figures in scientific dissemination in the country. Rómulo de Carvalho, who was also a poet under the pseudonym António Gedeão, stood out for his work as a professor, historian of science and scientific disseminator. The objective of this celebration is to promote the importance of science in society, encouraging public interest, especially among young people, in scientific fields. The date is used to hold activities, events and discussions that emphasize the fundamental role of science in technological and social development, in addition to highlighting the impact of scientific knowledge on people's daily lives.
