November 20th is Biomedical Science
November 20th is Biomedical Science Day in Brazil. The date was chosen in honor of the creation of the first class of biomedical scientists graduated in the country, which took place in 1978, at the University of São Paulo (USP). The choice of November 20th also coincides with the celebration of National Zumbi Day and Black Consciousness Day, reinforcing the importance of diversity and the fight for equality. Biomedical scientists are health professionals trained in Biomedicine, who dedicate themselves to the study and research of biomedical sciences, working in various areas, such as clinical analysis, imaging diagnosis, molecular biology, scientific research, among others. They play a fundamental role in public health, contributing to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases.
