November 20 Children's Rights
November 20 Children's Rights Day. This date marks the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child by the UN General Assembly in 1989, an important milestone that recognized the human rights of children worldwide. The origins of the day date back to 1959, when the UN proclaimed the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, which established basic principles of child protection and well-being. However, it was not until 1989, with the convention, that children's rights were formally recognized and expanded, covering issues such as education, health, protection from abuse and exploitation, and the guarantee of a safe and healthy environment for their development.
