November 4th is Reserve Officer's Day (R/2) and pays tribute to reserve officers of the Armed Forces, highlighting their role in national defense. The date marks the birthday of Lieutenant Colonel Luiz de Araújo Correia Lima, the founder of the Reserve Officer Training Center. Born on November 4th, 1891 in Porto Alegre, Correia Lima excelled in military schools. After World War I, he recognized the importance of integrating citizens with higher education into the Army. On April 22nd, 1927, he founded the Reserve Officer Training Center (CPOR) in Rio de Janeiro, which led to the creation of similar centers in other cities. During the Revolution of 1930, he died in combat and was promoted posthumously to Lieutenant Colonel. Correia Lima is remembered as the Patron Saint of Reserve Officers, and his birth date was officially established as Reserve Officer's Day R/2 in 2006.
