November 16th is Tolerance
November 16th is Tolerance Day. This date was established by the United Nations (UN) to promote tolerance, respect and acceptance between different cultures, religions and opinions. The date highlights the importance of combating prejudice and discrimination, promoting a more peaceful and inclusive world. The origin of the day is linked to the Declaration of Principles on Tolerance, adopted by UNESCO Member States on November 16, 1995, and this act marked UNESCO's 50th anniversary. The Declaration of Principles on Tolerance defined tolerance as respect and appreciation for diversity and as the ability to recognize the rights and freedoms of others.
