October 30th, Fight Against Rheumatism
October 30th, Fight Against Rheumatism Day, aims to raise awareness about rheumatic diseases, which affect a large portion of the population, causing pain and functional limitations that impact quality of life. Rheumatic diseases are a group of more than 200 conditions that affect the locomotor system, including bones, joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments. Some of these diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and lupus, can also affect other organs, such as the kidneys and heart. The date seeks to promote understanding of the realities faced by those who suffer from these conditions, in addition to combating prejudices and providing information about symptoms and treatments. Among the most common rheumatic diseases are osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, gout, tendonitis and bursitis.
