October 25th is Opera
October 25th is Opera Day. This date was established to recognize and value the art of opera, as well as raise awareness of its cultural and historical significance. Opera, which combines music, theater, and visual arts, has roots that date back to the late 16th century. In 2019, UNESCO officially declared October 25th as World Opera Day, marking the birthdate of Georges Bizet and Johann Strauss II. On this occasion, a variety of events are held around the world, including performances, concerts, and educational activities, aimed at engaging audiences and promoting the work of opera companies and artists. The day also highlights the rich diversity of styles and traditions within the genre, from the classical works of composers such as Verdi and Puccini to contemporary productions.
