World Taekwondo Day is celebrated on September 4th and was established during the General Assembly of the WTF (World Taekwondo Federation) on July 25th, 2006, in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. This date was chosen to mark the inclusion of Taekwondo as an official modality in the Olympics, decided during the 103rd General Assembly of the IOC (International Olympic Committee) in Paris, on September 4, 1994. During World Taekwondo Day, several activities are held globally, such as competitions, demonstrations and community events, with the aim of increasing awareness of this martial art and promoting its values, such as respect, discipline, self-control and sportsmanship.
