Saint Hadrian 's Day, or Saint Hadrian of Nicomedia
Saint Hadrian 's Day, or Saint Hadrian of Nicomedia , is celebrated on September 8 . He was a Christian soldier and martyr during the reign of the Roman Emperor Maximian in the early 4th century. He was a guard in the Roman army in Nicomedia, located in modern-day Türkiye. The story of Saint Hadrian tells that he witnessed the mistreatment of Christians during religious persecution under the Roman Empire. Inspired by the courage of the martyrs, Hadrian converted to Christianity and decided to openly profess his faith, refusing to participate in the persecution of Christians. For his refusal to renounce his faith, Saint Adrian was arrested, tortured and finally martyred. He is considered a martyr of the Christian faith for his firmness in defending his religious principles, even in the face of persecution and death.
