Saint Rose of Lima Day, celebrated on August 23 , honors the life and legacy of Saint Rose of Lima, patron saint of Peru and the Americas. She lived in 16th century Lima, Peru, dedicating herself to prayer, penance and service to the poor. Rosa is remembered for her deep religious devotion since childhood and for her dedication to those most in need, caring for the sick and orphans. Despite the difficulties she faced, Rosa remained faithful to her faith and is venerated for her holiness and Christian example. Saint Rose's Day is marked by religious celebrations, including special masses and processions, mainly in Peru and other parts of Latin America.
