Confucius Day, celebrated on September 28 , pays homage to the Chinese philosopher Confucius, a highly revered figure in Chinese history and culture. Confucius, also known as Kǒng Fūzǐ, lived between 551 and 479 BC and left a legacy of teachings on ethics, morality and governance that profoundly shaped Chinese society and influenced the world. On this day, Chinese communities around the world and many regions in China celebrate Confucius' birthday with various activities. These include visits to temples dedicated to Confucius, readings of his writings, performances of traditional music and dance, as well as speeches and lectures on his philosophy.
