World Day for the Prevention of Unplanned Pregnancy in Adolescents
World Day for the Prevention of Unplanned Pregnancy in Adolescents is a global initiative that aims to raise awareness about the challenges faced by adolescents in relation to sexual and reproductive health and promote effective strategies to prevent unplanned pregnancies in this age group. This date is celebrated on September 26th of each year. During this day, health organizations, government agencies, NGOs and community groups carry out educational activities, awareness campaigns and events to provide information about contraception, sexual and reproductive health, prevention of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and communication skills. The initiative aims to empower young people to make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing, combating stigma and promoting a positive approach to discussing issues related to teenage sexuality.
